Snow Sculpture

I have represented Britain in International Snow Carving Competitions for 10 years. It is an amazing experience to carve on a large scale (3m x 3m x 3m) with extreme conditions of down to -40 degrees. The events usually take 3 days and in that time you have to carve a cube of compressed snow from a pre-selected proposal. There is usually a panel of judges and a chance for the public to vote.

My teamate Kate Munro and I have carved in Greenland, Lapland, Quebec, China, Estonia and Japan. We have often ended up working through the night in the biting cold and it is a real endurance test. We have won 4 gold medals, silver, 2 bronze and the Public and Sculptor’s vote twice. In December 2016 I created a room for the Icehotel in Jukkasjarvi, Swedish Lapland.
